Chelsea have officially completed the signature of Spain international, Marc Cucurella from fellow EPL rivals, Brighton.
The Spain international joins the West Londoners in a deal worth £62 million with bonuses.
Cucurella, 24, submitted a transfer request because Manchester City wanted him, but the two teams were unable to reach an agreement after Graham Potter's side insisted on paying £50 million for the left-back.
According to reports from ESPN, The Premier League Champions were unwilling to meet the Spaniard's asking price, which caused the deal to fall through and gave Chelsea the opportunity to swoop in and hijack the deal.
As per several credible sources, City on the other hand would only be interested in acquiring the Spain left-back if the asking price was reduced to £35 million.
Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen joined Los Blancos and the Blaugrana, respectively, as part of Thomas Tuchel's ongoing effort to strengthen his defensive options. Jules Kounde and Matthijs de Ligt were targets for the London based club, but they opted for a move on to European Giants, Bayern Munich & Barcelona.
During his one-year stint with the Seagulls, Cucurella, who earned Brighton's player of the year award for the 21/22 campaign & also featured in 38 games.
